The firm of J. W. Wells & Co., the old-established Family Sorcerers in St. Mary Axe, London, have invented a love potion which, if report may be believed, is simply infallible. Mr. Wells surreptitiously spikes a teapot with the potion, and soon the entire village of Ploverleigh is madly in love. All the ingredients that have made Gilbert and Sullivan enduringly popular are here: thwarted young lovers, a patter baritone (who does magic!), topsy-turvy happenings, and a happy ending for almost everyone, all brought alive by Sullivan's incomparable music.
With 38 talented singers on the stage and 22 professional musicians in the pit, this will be a musical event to remember.
At the Mothers Day performance (Sunday, May 11, at 2 pm) all mothers will receive a complimentary flower, courtesy of Victorian Bouquet. (While supplies last.)
You will find the libretto here. Glossaries here, here, and here.

Our fall production was The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, with direction and music direction by Maret Taylor-Genzlinger, stage direction by Elsa Genzlinger, and choreography by Andrea Schreiner. Check out the cast of more than fifty people, and the photographs (Snapfish registration required) of a dress rehearsal.
Performance dates: November 2, 3, 4 (matinee), 9, and 10.

Our fall production was Tom Stoppard's play Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, directed by Merry Farmer. This highly amusing foray into the absurd provides a witty commentary on theater, life, death, and the meaniing of art, and manages to do so without ever taking itself too seriously.
Performance dates: November 10, 11, 12 (matinee), 17, and 18.
Our (late) spring "dessert theater" offering was entitled Light Fare. Presented on June 15 and 16, the program included five very short plays, directed by Elsa Genzlinger and acted by nine members of the Bryn Athyn community.
The show took place in Heilman Hall, with the audience seated at tables in a casual atmosphere. Assorted desserts, coffee, tea, and bottled water were served.
Our first production this season was Oscar Wilde's comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest, presented November 12, 13, 17, and 19, 2005.
A stellar cast directed by Gail Cooper made this a show to remember.
Our second production this season was a joint production, with the Bryn Athyn College of the New Church, of The Sound of Music. Cory Boyce took 250 photographs of the final dress rehearsal. You can view them online, and also order prints of various sizes. In that rehearsal, Maria was played by understudy Miriam Lexie, although there is one photograph of Stephanie Latta as Maria. Douglas Lockard's photographs are also available for viewing and print ordering. These include the publicity shots, as well as shots from the two rehearsals on Sunday, January 29, including both Stephanie and Miriam, as well as the understudies for the children.
